[News] Gyeonggi Library Opens — Setting a New Standard for Public Libraries

The feature articles have been published on Gyeonggi Library, designed by HAEAHN Architecture.

Located in Suwon, the library opened on October 25 as a cultural hub that connects books, people, and communities. Inspired by the Greek origin of the word Bibliotheca—meaning a vessel for storing scrolls—the design reinterprets the library as a container for knowledge and sharing. Its spiral form seamlessly links the interior and exterior, guiding visitors to explore knowledge naturally as they move through the space.

Built with a focus on coexistence with nature, the library utilizes geothermal and solar energy to achieve energy self-sufficiency. It has earned top-level certifications in both Green Building (1st Grade) and Energy Efficiency (1++ Grade), and incorporates sustainable systems such as building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) and smart EV charging.
