On January 19, HAEAN Architecture announced that it has secured a patent for its innovative residential concept titled “Multi-Family Housing with Private Elevator Halls.”

This patented design introduces, for the first time, the concept of a detached house–like private front garden into multi-family housing, presenting a new residential model for high-density living. By structurally rethinking conventional apartment layouts, the design addresses long-standing issues such as privacy infringement, noise disturbance, and the overlap of shared circulation paths.

At the core of the patent is the concept of an “expanded residential unit.” Each dwelling is accessed through an independent private elevator hall, with a garden-like space positioned directly in front of the unit entrance, effectively separating circulation between households and enhancing privacy and residential comfort.

The design has been widely recognized for redefining the apartment living experience, offering residents the sense of having a “private front yard” even within a collective housing environment.
